Last weekend, my baby brother turned 18 years old. I suppose subjectively, he really is barely legal, considering in the province of Alberta, he can now legally drink, buy cigarettes, gamble and vote, but in the rest of Canada, he has to wait another year until he is 19. Interesting how societal norms differ even among neighboring provinces. Regardless, we threw Little J a lunch time soiree with our extended family, which was followed by tear-jerking speeches and loads of cake. Later on, after a short break, we reconvened in downtown to get the real party started. I must say I have never had that much fun at Vinyl before; being offered bottle service, getting VIP treatment, creating random cyphers on the dance floors, screaming lyrics, getting hotdogs, and all ending with Little J making the concrete meet his lunch from earlier that day. Eighteenth birthday = wildly successful.
