IYBC Update #100: Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready)

  • January 12, 2010
How fitting that the first IYBC Update of 2010 happens to my 100th update? Things in life recently have been falling wonderfully into place – a welcome change to my usual scrambling around and trying to organize and re-organize my life. Sure, there’s still bumps in the road, but isn’t that what keeps life interesting? So, lets get right into it, shall we?

nyfw If you haven’t already voted for me to attend New York Fashion Week, I’m deeply disappointed. I’m still sitting at 8th place out of 165 people, and with your help, I could easily get in the top five spot. Remember, you can vote once every 24 hours! So what are you waiting for? Click here and make a difference in my life.

music Lately I’ve been all over the place, keeping the iPod Touch on shuffle, but I’ve still been pretty consistent with The Element of Freedom, So Far Gone, Battle Studies and Sex Therapy. Haha isn’t it apparent whats been mostly on my mind?

the weekend Definitely a good one to kick-start the new year with. On Friday, I worked my typical shift at work, and afterward enjoyed a dope dinner with some kids I haven’t seen since before I left for Europe last year. So good to see that some things never change. Saturday saw me work an extra early shift, rush to my little nephew’s christening (which I obviously MCed) and then rush to celebrate what was announced as an engagement party, but what I knew since the afternoon was, in fact, an informal post-nuptial party. Sunday was church, a last minute mad-dash to accomodate 50-some parishioners for lunch afterward, followed by the now-typical list of washing, drying, folding and putting away laundry, cleaning my bathroom, getting the rooms in order, vacuum, dusting, and preparing for the week to come. To say the least, it was definitely a weekend which showcased remnants of my past lives. A reunion, a wedding, a christening. I’m so thankful for all the wonderful things happening in the lives of everyone.

emails Strange though it may not seem to anyone in this generation, my parents still find it odd that my number one means of conversation is neither in person, or on the phone, but rather via Electronic Mail. It’s an amazing thing, ain’t it? The past week, I’ve got some very interesting, thought-provoking emails from London, from Calgary, from Milan, from Toronto, and obviously from Amsterdam. This part of technology I love – the blind eye it turns towards physical, man-made borders.
