IYBC Discovers Europe #2: Changing Perceptions

  • September 17, 2009
Today felt like a whirlwind – like I’ve been in this place for weeks on end. Maybe it was the endless different places I’ve already seen or the fact that I haven’t had real sleep since Monday night? Either way, I’m doing a lazy-man’s bullet list:

  • Landed, had my “moment”, and bought a medium Sprite via Burger King for a whopping $4.50USD (no pun intended).
  • Visited the Queen’s Crown flagship store and Head Office.
  • Took my Versace jeans to the tailor.
  • Walked through an open-air cobble stoned shopping mall:
  • Hit up the usual Zara, H&M, G-Star, & Only type stores.
  • Discovered high-end denim via Denham, Blue Blood, and the largest selection of Nudies & G-Star jeans I’ve yet seen.
  • Found two shoe boutiques, across from one another, with Moschino, Y-3, DSQAURED2 and Prada shoes.
  • Gripped a bite via a vending machine with fresh cooked food (3 Euro gets you a cheese burger).
  • Learned how to say “Thank You” in Dutch.
  • Had the best freshly made flavored iced tea over lunch @ a trendy cafe in Downtown.
  • Unpacked into my room for the next little bit here.
  • Had dinner at the Royal Family’s old chicken farm.
  • Laughed at the VMAs and MTV’s other lame shoes with Vincent & Tommer.
  • Rode in the siiiickest Mini any of ya’ll have ever seen.
  • Gave Jaiden one of his presents.
  • Visited four different cities: Hilversum, Amsterdam, Amestfoort & The Chicken Farm City?
  • Drove up & down a minature version of the (in)famour Red Light District. It was called The Red Bridge, and for 50 Euro, you can have your way with some bangin’ chicks.
  • Took a late night stroll to the view of the Freeway for some life changing conversations with one of my best friends.
…and Day One is tomorrow? Damn. Oh and jetlag? Time zones? I don’t even know what I’m doing. All I know is that I’m having the time of my life. I’ll leave you with this: “Nothing in Life is permanent. Things will get worse, things will better. All we can do is fucking enjoy the better times, and not be too shocked when they get worse”.
