And the updates continue from last month. As most of you who follow my Twitter would know, the Global Youth Assembly hosted the Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, to come down and engage in dialogue with the delegates at the conference. The event was open to public, so really, she was just down to chill with whoever, and hear what they had to say. A local Edmonton hip-hop group was part of her introduction. She spoke briefly at the beginning of the night on the importance of the engagement of young people. And the rest of the event was open to anyone who wished to speak to the panel of experts on youth issues.
It was truly an honor to have front row seats to this event. Who would have thought that in my humble life-time I would get the absolute privilege of hearing the Governor General of Canada (who’s cool with you referring to her as “GG”) address youth issues and empowerment? Definitely one of the highlights of the conference.
