Diamond in the Sky

  • July 1, 2013

Remember my earlier post titled “I Give Up!” (click here)? The basic sentiment there was that when it comes to coordinating birthday surprises and events, I’m at my wits end, and ready to opt for a traditional dinner and gift. So when my girlfriend’s mom phoned me to say that she had just one more surprise planned for her daughter’s birthday, I was a touch nervous. Little did I know the surprise was a visit to the luxury Swarovski encrusted spa resort that is Sparkling Hill. This luxury wellness hotel, commissioned by the world-famous crystal brand Swarovski, is nestled in the mountains near Vernon, British Columbia, and overlooks Lake Okanagan. Over 3.5 million crystals have been infused within this resort – and they are everywhere. The guest rooms are comparable to our favorite hotel in Vegas, the Wynn, with stunning floor-to-ceiling glass and a sliding window wall to allow fresh outdoor air to penetrate the space. There is crystals everywhere; from the ceiling to the drawer handles to the $35,000 crystal fireplace (pictured after the jump) in each room. And the spa amenities include access to some twelve speciality hot, dry/steam and cold saunas, an indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub, tea room and meditation room. The entire vibe in this resort is to sit back, walk around in your bathrobe and completely relax. All I can say is, while there, we already started planning when to return and who to bring. Definitely the best birthday surprise bebe has received to date. Make sure to click “CONTINUE READING” below for more photos from our stay!
