As some of you might know, one of my best friends just recently got back from a whirlwind tour of the Big Apple, the city that never sleeps, a North American fashion mecca. And while she hit the pavement hard in the meatpacking district, rocking her Topshop wedges, she was kind enough to grip me a little something which is quite distinct in its own right. A fun spin on the classic “black skinny tie”, this tie is embellished all over with what looks like tiny studs. The effect is unreal, and thankfully just an optical allusion, so it still sits comfortably around my neck. I absolutely love it; rocked it during Alberta Fashion Week, and then once again in Calgary, and then almost twice in Las Vegas. You know I love something when I come up with excuses to wear it. A fitting gift from a friend who’s been there since I thought Hawaiian shirts paired with overalls was a fashion statement. Now that we’ve been tight for over ten years, I’m glad we can look back and laugh at our pasts, gloat in our present, and look forward to the future knowing that no matter how we evolve, we’ll always have each other. Yeah, my friends are pretty fucking dope. Thanks!
