IYBC Confessions of a Denim Connoisseur #14: Skinny Black Jeans

  • February 1, 2010
Yes, I’ve gone and done it again. Yet another pair of black denim has been added to the ever-increasing wardrobe of designer jeans. Like I’ve said over and over, I can’t believe that a few years back I was so anti-black-jeans. They are, in my opinion, the absolute best style staple anybody, fashionable or not, needs in their wardrobe, especially in this generation of constantly going out for food/drinks/desserts, or going clubbing for birthdays/celebrations/anniversaries/going-away-parties/etc. As an active citizen in today’s society, at most time, we are expected and encouraged to be able to become a chameleon; as one day in the life could mean a shift at your part-time job, a lecture at school, and a rendezvous with a few friends. But alas, I digress. In the spirit of supporting one of my favorite denim brands, known for its rich heritage, amazing quality, custom cuts and everlasting washes, and giving my wardrobe a little boost, I decided to invest in a pair of Diesel’s skinny jeans, otherwise known as the Diesel Thanaz, in the 8IE Stretch wash. Yes that’s right; stretch. Never did I imagine I would be rocking stretchy jeans, but dude, they do wonders for your thighs! And if you’re like me, and have been, ahem, blessed with fairly large ones (aka Thunder Thighs!), then these jeans could be your new best friend. Unfortunately, the common masses believe skinny jeans belong on skinny people. A common misconception – skinny jeans, if worn in the right wash and cut (such as these) and with the right proportion on the upper, actually tend to slim down bigger guys, while giving a powerful, almost muscular silhouette. I’m in love, and it looks like the Nudie Slim Jims will get a much needed break, finally. Click Continue Reading for more comprehensive shots of these beauties.
