IYBC Update #76: The Weekend in SOME Photos

  • May 17, 2009
I’ve always, always, always said that one should never leave the house on a Friday looking less than decent; you never know where Life will take you and who Fate will make you encounter.

FRIDAY MAY 15: Typical day at the office, except I choose to leave Stacey on the driveway, and actually took public transit to the office. Hey, when times are tough, even I can agree that $2.50 is nothing compared to parking & gas, along with travel time. Lunch time found me dining at the highly discussed Thai Rose Garden on Stephen Ave. How can you go wrong with an all-you-can-eat Thai Lunch Buffet, complete with coconut rice and peanut sauce. My coworker took me out as a birthday treat (2 months late?). And then that’s when I realized; I forgot my camera at home. Oh well, the day was still young, with many hours left in the day. On naive me.

Had a very important meeting with management, and decided to leave the office a little early to meet AK & Kathryn for the long-awaited and overdue purse purchase via Louis Vuitton. Nothing better than the timeless and classic Speedy 35 in the Damier Ebene. And in the process, convinced Kathryn to pick up a new piece from the “Almost Denim” collection. Haha some things never change. Popped into URBAN to have my usual conversation with all the SAs and my best friends. Lexus met us in downtown, and with nothing better to do with our time, we took the train down to Sunridge, to visit Yzma.

Picture via my Bold: The definition of Fabulosity

Most people pregame before they go to the club, by gathering at a private residence and drinking store-bought liqour. Us? We pregame before a big meal, by gathering at a food court and stuffing our faces.

The Best Friend came in from Edmonton, and thank goodness he was driving, because this whole going green & frugal BS was getting on my nerves. While we’re chowing down on Koryo, he drove to Sunridge to grip us. We headed back into downtown, back unto Stephen Ave, for a delicious dinner at Mango Shiva, which turned out to meet and surpass all the hype I had heard about this place. The interior, the service, the presentation, and down to the authenticity of the entire restaurant. It was amazing.

From that point, we met up with Gwen & Mz.Hazel at Mercury, which turned into waiting in line at BLVD, which turned into us heading into M1 (no line, no cover, no coat check!)? Got a ride home with Gwen, meaning we sat on my driveway for a good two hours talking about everything from shoes to junior high to our love for burger king?

One outfit. No camera. No car. M1 with my new Gucci bag. 23 solid hours of activities. Cease The Day Much? Definitely did not expect my Friday night to end up that way.

SATURDAY MAY 16: Considering that I stumbled into bed at around 5:00 am, I got a text at 10:58 am: “Hey when are you coming in today?”… FML, I worked at 11:00 am. Nice, so got up, forced myself to throw on some decent clothes because of my life mantra (see above), and headed into work for a typical Saturday shift. Everyone was working today: Cady, Regina, Gretchen, Karen, Janice, and Coach Car even made an appearance! Work was definitely super dead today, so I spent most of the day talking to Marly while he’s been doin it big in Van City, and we’ve decided a Part II from last summer is most definitely in order.

Came home from work to feed my fish, and spent two hours watching TV with my mom. Some quick singing/guitar practice with the little brother for tomorrow’s Church service, and here I be, blogging away.

SUNDAY MAY 17: Yzma leaves for Vancouver in 2 hours. Man, why does it seem everyone is there right now? Oh yeah, probably because everyone is. Sunday sees me attending Church, running over to work for a 3 hour closing shift, and spending the rest of the night with one of my favorite ladies: Stacey. She’s in desperate need of some TLC, along with hella Armour-All. Time to bust out all the nice new things I’ve been waiting to use in her (new iPod dock, new scent, new mats, etc). I love detailing cars.

That’s my weekend. It’s definitely summer. I’ll leave you with this:
It’s called the past cause I’m getting past, and I ain’t nothing like I was before: you ought to see me now… LESSON LEARNED – ALICIA KEYS
