Jurr Turns 22 #7: The Celebration

  • May 18, 2010

CLICK CONTINUE READING FOR THE ENTIRE POST

I’m not surprised that even though I turned 22 at the end of March, I’m only concluding this post series now, mid-May. Pretty typical of me to be so delayed. There really has been a lot of things going on in my life from then till now, and don’t worry, you’ll be caught up to speed on everything. But alas, I digress. Thus far, you’ve all seen have the venue, where we stayed, the general vacation style, and what I wore on my birthday night. And now, to answer everyone’s questions about what actually went down to commemorate another year of my life, you need not wait any longer. Simply click Continue Reading to see my three-part Birthday Celebration.

pre-vegas

The Church Family was prepared well in advance, throwing a lunch and having me cut a cake almost a full month in advance. Following suit, my little brother and sister also took me and the girlfriend out for dinner, only to have the rest of my cousins waiting there as well. They also surprised me with one of my favorite McCain cakes with all 22 + 1 candles. I love my family.

las vegas

On top of the fact that they’re literally my oldest friends, one thing that I appreciated so much about my best friends accompanying me to Las Vegas was their constant reminder that this was my birthday trip. As lame as it may sound, they made sure that I felt so special and so loved, it really is a testament to how one should be treated by their best friends. I could write a novel based on my trip, but some of the definite high-lights of the trip would be Mrs. Euro-FF and Baby Jay singing to me, live from Amsterdam, via Skype, Mr. Rye and myself consuming 22 drinks within the 24 hours that it was my birthday, the awesome birthday decorations that were waiting in my suite – both from my girlfriend and from the best friends, how we sent the girls to go shopping while Mr. Rye and myself truly experienced Las Vegas, dinner reservations at TAO for my birthday dinner, VIP passes to all the exclusive spots: LAX, Eve, XS, Blush, Pure, Jet and Lavo, tagging along as the girls shopped at The Forum Shops and we drank our giant Tequila Margaritas, the Casa Fuente cigar that Mr. Ryan bought me, lounging by the pool, walking the entire strip from end-to-end in the middle of the night to find the furthest McDonalds and then passing out in the cab on the way home, and getting all the BBMs, SMS, DMs, Tweets, Emails and even phone calls to wish me. Overall, Las Vegas was literally one of the best experiences of my life, comparable to Europe and traveling to Guyana for UNICEF. I’ll let some photos do the rest of the talking:

post-vegas

And as amazing as Vegas was, of course I wasn’t able to share it with everyone I love, so I hosted a small party here in Calgary; desserts at Moxies on 17th, and afterward we went to Opus, Se7en and ended up at Roadhouse. I’m happy that I got to celebrate my 22nd Birthday with some very important people, and I’m so glad for everyone who actually did end up coming from Neil Barret to Airport Bro. And as usual, Klow was the biggest diva (see above). Overall, this is one birthday that I won’t be soon forgetting. I’m so blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people, who constantly contribute to unforgettable memories that make me think back and smile. I thank God daily for all of you, you know I would be nothing without you guys. Love Love.
