To everyone that I have seen in the past week, this will be redundant – I have felt no excitement nor resentment for my upcoming birthday tomorrow. Apart from musing about what outfit to wear and contemplating an inflated and unrealistic wish list of potential birthday gifts, this year I did not consider a venue, a guestlist, a menu, a start time, an RSVP, a sequence of events, decoration ideas, cakes and cupcakes, or any of the usual aspects typically associated with hosting a birthday party. Thank God for my equally beautiful and talented girl, who orchestrated a beautiful evening full of old friends and new, my favourite foods and pastries, laughter, decor and most importantly, so much love.
