She Has Everything

  • July 1, 2012

10.06.12

What do you gift the woman who has everything? Not to be confused with the woman who has it all – the woman who has everything has no desire for anything else, but doesn’t necessary own everything she has ever wanted, that’s the woman who has it all. Make sense? Anyway, my girlfriend repeatedly tells me that she has everything, as in “don’t buy me anything else because I don’t need it”. But, a couple of months before her birthday, when we were getting ready for an evening out, she mentioned something about how she was growing tired of her accessory collection, and could probably go with a re-vamp sometime soon. Aha, the light bulb came on, and I was on a quest to find rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, belts, etc that would be an ideal gift for her forthcoming birthday. On a different note, I had also just recently discovered that my absolute favorite watch was now available in a woman’s version. B has always always always complemented this watch, so this tied in perfectly with her accessory heavy birthday gift. With the new accessories concept in mind, I went out and bought 11 shiny new pieces for my girl to add to her collection. But here’s where the fun comes in: you’ll want to pay attention folks, because coming up is an easy and unique way to present gifts to a loved one.

I wrapped all the gifts in identical plain meat-wrapping paper, with a signature teal ribbon. Then I positioned the boxes in the shape of a “B”, and traced along on a piece of styro-board to create a puzzle. I photographed this and made a greeting card with the photo on the front, and this on the inside: “B, sometimes you have to look long & hard for what you really want in life”. When we returned from drinks at Le Germain (see post below), my girlfriend was met with the giant cut-out B and the card. I had hidden all the wrapped gifts all around her condo. From there, she used the card with the completed puzzle photo on the front to go through her place and search out the presents that I had hidden. It was pretty exciting for her as she found more and more presents, slowly completing the “B”-board, and then her reward at the end? She got to open them! Man, it seems every year we just keep on trying to top each other. I wonder what Christmas will look like this year? Click “READ MORE” for more photos from the scavenger hunt!
