Speculation

THE CROSBY REVOLVER BLACK BY WARBY PARKER PHOTO CREDIT: WP.COM

Years ago back when I was still brand new at the University, my parents gifted me one of the most precious presents I’ve ever received for Christmas: the gift of perfect sight. The war with contacts, glasses, eye-drops and optometrists came to an end the day I entered that day clinic to get my vision laser corrected. After a year of post-surgery checks up and doctor visits, I was so happy to put glasses and lenses behind me for good – or until I’m forty when I’ll have to undergo the procedure again. So its ironic that my mind is once again leaning towards glasses, not for health’s sake, but for style’s. In the corporate world of fashion, a neat pair of specks can definitely make a major impression on clients; they dignify a suit, stylize a cardigan and give an overall sense of smarts. Do I sound ridiculous saying this? Maybe, but I’m seriously considering the glasses pictured above, and the marketing genius that companies have now become means that for every pair of glasses purchased from Warby Parker, a deserving person in the rest of the world gets a free pair (think TOMS, but for glasses). I mean, how can I say no?
