This year, the annual Calgary Stampede is extra-special and extra-Western as we celebrate one hundred years of the exhibition and fare! Aside from the over-the-top experience on the Stampede grounds, the whole city has once again come alive with pop-up beer and wine gardens, free Stampede breakfasts, lunches and dinners, lots of contests and giveaways, concerts, fireworks, displays, Stampede-themed sales, and a general sense of excitement and buzz is in and around downtown. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of Stampede, but this year, with my 12 year old sister-in-law coming into town, my parents’ very own Stampede breakfast, and my Firm’s involvement with the fare, I’m bound to go experience it, so I’ve decided to drop my prior conceptions and embrace the Stampede, just for this year – why not? Besides, I love rocking cowboy boots year-round anyway! Happy 100th birthday to the Calgary Stampede! And on that note, happy 100th blog post to the Endoxist!
